Update to Our Members

On Friday, August 7, 2020, the IASIU Bylaws vote passed to allow for a virtual Business Meeting. The virtual Business Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 15 at 3:45 pm CT. As a result, the IASIU 2020 Elections will take place at the virtual Business Meeting.

What will remain the same with the 2020 election?

Voter Eligibility, Business Meeting Attendance, and Use of the AM Best List
The IASIU Bylaws dictates that only one vote per group may be cast and that voters must be present at the Business Meeting to cast their ballot. This will still hold true for the IASIU virtual election.

IASIU Bylaws, Article III, Section 4,
A.  All officers and directors will be elected at an annual meeting.
B.  All companies and/or organizations represented by regular members at the annual meeting shall have one (1) vote per group for the purpose of election of officers and directors. The group will be as defined by the most current AM Best publication.
C.  All companies or organizations of regular members must select one individual who is a regular member to cast the company’s vote during the election of officers and directors.  The company or organization must inform the Secretary, or his/her designee, of the individual authorized to cast the company vote prior to the start of the annual business meeting.
D.  All regular members in good standing shall have the right to cast individual votes on all other association business placed before them at the annual business meeting, other than the election of officers and directors.
E.  All votes must be in person, unless the annual meeting is held virtually. There will be no absentee voting.

What will be different in 2020?

Ballot Check-Out Process

In a typical year, designated voters check out their ballots onsite at the Annual Seminar, prior to the Business Meeting.

This year, designated voters must complete the Election Ballot Request Form between Monday, August 17, 2020 and Tuesday, September 8. This allows voters 23 days to complete the form. This form is your ballot check-out process. Voters MUST submit this checkout form by Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

To allow the Nominations Committee time to verify all ballot requests, NO BALLOTS WILL BE ISSUED TO ANYONE SUBMITTING A BALLOT REQUEST AFTER TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2020

You will be notified by email once the Nominations Committee has approved your ballot check out request. If another member from your same group also requests a ballot, you will both be notified in order to determine who the designated voter should be.

Business Meeting Check-in Process
For all approved voters to receive a ballot, they MUST be checked-in at the Annual Business Meeting. Check-in is from 3:30 to 3:45 CT pm. Only approved voters will be allowed to check-in at this time. Check-in is the last step before receiving your ballot.

Electronic Ballot
One of the first orders of business at the Business Meeting will be presentation of candidates by the Nominations Committee and the call for nominations from the floor. Once that has ended, eligible voters will receive the link to their ballot by text and by email. Either link will work as they connect to the same single ballot. Once a ballot is cast, the link will close. Voters will have until 5:00 pm CT to submit their electronic ballot.

If a member has a problem with their electronic ballot, a certified elections specialist from Election Buddy will work with that individual to supply a link and unique access code to their individual ballot
