Puget Sound Chapter Holds Crash and Burn Training

The Puget Sound Chapter recently held a crash and burn training with the help of the Seattle Fire Department as part of their fall conference. Attendees received training from forensic engineers and O & C experts and had the opportunity to meet with a local ATF Fire investigator.

In addition, they conducted three simulated crashes of a Volvo Station Wagon versus a Honda Accord and then used the Honda in a controlled burn. The Fire Department also conducted a controlled burn of fuel in a shipping container to illustrate the behavior of fire in a room.

Kudos to the Puget Sound board for coordinating with the Fire Department who had a new training class of recruits who used the car fire as a simulated response with a call to dispatch, a roll out of the fire truck with sirens going and then those recruits put out the fire. It was a win-win for both SIU investigators and fire department recruits.

Read more about the training in the winter issue of SIU Today due out in December.
