Big Easy Injury: Anatomy of a Staged Trucking Accident Ring

GoToWebinar Class Description: Defense attorneys and insurers have uncovered an expansive staged trucking accident ring on I-10 in New Orleans in which hundreds of accidents were staged by lawyers, case runners, and other co-conspirators. The Department of Justice has secured dozens of convictions of non-lawyers and the cooperation of just one of the many attorneys who orchestrated the scheme. Many attorneys are expected to be indicted in the near future. Transportation defense attorney Nick Arnold explains the entire operation – from recruitment of plaintiffs, payoff of other witnesses and co-conspirators, murder of a cooperating witness and ensuing arrest, and the leveraging of treatment by litigation finance companies.
Instructor Bios: NIck Arnold
Nick Arnold is a property and casualty defense attorney in New Orleans, representing local, regional, and national clients in pre-litigation disputes through litigation at trial and appeal. Nick graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He obtained a Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where he served as Chairman of the Moot Court Board and was named a member of The Order of the Barristers. Since 2008, Nick has focused on civil defense litigation, including insurance coverage defense, property and casualty defense, business disputes and advisory work. Nick has serves on the Board of Directors for the New Orleans Association of Defense Counsel and the New Orleans Claims Association. He is an active member of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) and International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU), and the Property and Liability Resource Bureau (PLRB). He is licensed to practice in Louisiana and Texas courts.
Nick Arnold regularly collaborates with clients, other defense counsel, and experts to attack developing trends and to inform the defense and insurance communities about how to best defend clients on these emerging issues.
